Located in the Kaniksu National Forest this vacation rental is a premiere destination for hunting, fishing, hiking, UTV/ATV/OHV riding, mountain biking, rafting, canoeing, kayaking, snowmobiling, North Idaho waterfalls, wildlife viewing, huckleberry picking and more. Equipped with high speed internet, a dedicated workspace, a fenced yard and a propane stove, this is an ideal getaway for the entire family in winter, spring, summer or fall. Adventure awaits!

Location

The Moyie River Hideaway is located just 30 miles North of Bonners Ferry, ID on HWY 95, one mile from the Canadian border at Eastport. This Bonners Ferry cabin rental has immediate access to public land (Kaniksu National Forest) and from there can connect to Kootenai National Forest in Montana.

The Cabin

The Moyie River Hideaway is a newly-renovated river-front 1,200 sq ft cabin with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a sleeping loft and queen murphy bed that sleeps up to 8. A fully-equipped kitchen, Traeger grill, washer and dryer, wood stove, fire pit, fenced yard, outdoor deck, Smart TV, and dedicated workspace make this comfortable for the entire family for an extended stay.

Bring your OHV! Stage in the circle driveway at the cabin and explore everything the National Forest has to offer. Popular destinations and areas to explore include Deer Ridge Lookout, Mt. Baldy Lookout, Yaak (Montana), Canuk Basin, Spread Creek, Deer Creek, Moyie River, Rutledge Creek, Queen Mountain, Hall Mountain, Brush Lake OHV area and more. You will find it all our here from hidden lakes, creek crossings, challenging trails, family friendly sunset rides, fire lookouts, river play areas, big riverside meadows and wildlife galore. It’s even possible to connect to Moyie River Road without getting on HWY 95 opening up even more opportunities!

Kayaking

Out the front door of this cabin is a kayaking mecca. When the river is at higher levels in late spring the upper 15 miles of the Moyie River are a kayaker’s dream. Lakes great for kayaking include Spruce Lake, Sinclair Lake, Dawson Lake, Brush Lake and Robinson Lake.

Moyie River Fisherman Access & Lake Fishing

There are several secluded fishing spots along the Moyie River, one of them being the Fisherman’s Access just one mile down HWY 95 which provides excellent fishing from the river bank with amazing views of the Purcell Mountains. There are several more spots accessible from public land as well as when floating the river itself. Other fishing opportunities include Sinclair Lake, Robinson Lake, Brush Lake, Dawson Lake and Spruce Lake.

Fish in river: Brook trout, rainbow trout, brown trout. Great for fly fishing.
Fish in lakes: Bass, perch, blue gill, crappie, pike, walleye.

Copper Falls

One of the most popular activities guests do from this cabin is a short drive up the road to Copper Falls – a 1.4 mile gentle trail loop that takes about 40 minutes to complete. It’s considered an easy trail that’s great for families. Wander through the shady, old-growth forest over several footbridges and creeks providing play opportunities for children. Enjoy the view of the waterfall from the top or the bottom, where really adventurous souls can hike up to the bottom of the waterfall to enjoy a cooling mist in the heat of summer. Spruce Lake North Idaho

Spruce Lake

Just 10 miles up the road guests enjoy a pristine, high-altitude 6-acre lake accessible by a 0.6 mile gentle path that is wheelchair accessible. The lake is nestled at the bottom of a glacial cirque that drops down from Ruby Ridge. A great spot for fishing, kayaking, photography or just admiring nature.

Sinclair Lake

5 Miles down river is tranquil Sinclair Lake which has an excellent dock for fishing, swimming and kayaking. Regularly stocked with rainbow trout it’s fun for all anglers. Moose frequent the marshes surrounding this lake so keep your camera handy!

Robinson Lake

Located just 6 miles away down HWY 95 is Robinson Lake where you can fish or kayak from the shoreline recreation area or boat launch.

Brush Lake

Just 15-20 minutes away is Brush Lake which is an amazing place to hang out for the afternoon. With a generous dock, picnic area, rope swing and trail around the lake, it’s hard to not have a great time fishing, swimming, kayaking, hiking or just reading a book!

Big Game Hunting

Rich with wildlife, North Idaho unit 1 (the Panhandle) has some of the best hunting in the lower 48 offering big game hunting, upland bird hunting, waterfowl hunting. No matter the skill level or time available you will find hunts that are sure to be engaging, challenging, and full of memories. More info here.

Snowmobiling

The Kootenai and Kaniksu National Forests provide access to over 100,000+ acres of stunning mountains, lakes, meadows, roads and trails. You will find some of the most serene, quiet, undiscovered mountain access in the far north corner of Idaho and NW Montana. High mountain peaks, low average seasonal temperatures and very few people means deep snow, amazing views and first tracks. Copper Ridge, Spruce Lake, Ruby Creek, Canuk Basin and Deer Creek are a snowmobilers dream with something for everyone. A local’s and tourist’s favorite alike, the Good Grief Cafe is a great place to grab a burger, fries and milkshake after or during a day of hard play. Grab any convenience or simple grocery items you may have forgotten on their way through town. Don’t want to cook dinner? Order pizza for takeout, and snag a homemade treat for dessert as well!

Fiest Creek Restaurant

Open on the weekends, Fiest Creek Restaurant has a fish feeding pond, a private waterfall, a full bar, and outdoor dining options. This is a great place for families or even a couple on an anniversary or birthday trip.

Mountain Biking

The Northern tip of North Idaho is home to several serene mountain bike trails for all skill levels. Ranging from very close to a reasonable driving distance is the Mission (Harvey) Mountain Trail on Hall Mountain, Arndt Trail #409, Sidehill Trail, Ruby Ridge Trail #35, Keno Creek Trail #44, Danquist Trail, Tungsten Mountain Trail, Brush Lake Trail and Mount Baldy Trail.
